Lacoste - as you may have guessed with a name like that was founded in France. In 1933 to be precise (why it is that all fashion houses are around 80 years old?). It is probably most well known and recognised by its branding / logo. That’s right, the Lacoste Crocodile. Lacoste specialise in high end closing, frangrances, footwear and watches. They are most famous for their typical tennis / polo shirts which can be found in most boutiques in a wide range of colours. The company to this day is still run by the Lacoste family, however, the fragrance line is (with no surprises) operated by Procter and Gamble. Lacoste are located in Paris, France (where else?) but have boutiques in pretty much every major (and not so major) European city. The Lacoste brand was founded by Rene Lacoste (the tennis player) under the original name of La Chemise Lacoste with Andre Gillier, who just happened to be the owner of the largest knitwear manufacturing firm in France at the time (pretty handy). They obviously started out by re-producing the tennis shirts previously worn out on the courts by Rene Lacoste and the rest, as they say, is history.
